Painting created for the 150th anniversary of the Borough of Verdun as part of the L’Art à l’île exhibition.
A nun gazes out toward the horizon of Verdun. Her face seems to carry the weight of the past while welcoming the restless tide of time. Condominiums rise from her garments, echoing the development that is reshaping Nuns’ Island. Beyond the river, Verdun unfolds between deep-rooted history and forward movement, revealing the fragile balance between heritage and modernity. Faith nourishes, the city grows, and time, its silent fruit, shapes our lives and sculpts our landscapes.
